Abstract
Impact of Information on Parenting Decisions

In the modern era, the wealth of information on the internet has afforded society a great way to quickly access information on many topics. Unfortunately however, there is a lot of deceptive people and false information on the internet. Often, well intentioned people, such as parents, can become confused by false or conflicting information online. In order to help parents in the internet era, a website was created with useful information from reliable sources. Well intentioned parents often become confused about things such as vaccines due to conflicting stories from the medical community and the internet. The website contained information that would assist prospective and new parents as they begin their journey through parenthood and all of the information was taken and cited from credible sources. The website places a focus on the immune health of the child. To teach parents about this information the website offers frequently asked question links with detailed explanations for the layperson. Major topics covered heavily feature vaccination, early medical care, and a guide to help parents discern whether an emergency hospital visit is truly warranted in their situation. Over time, website traffic and comments/questions were observed and analyzed to quantify the effectiveness of the website in reaching the public and providing support.
